The Nahmakanta region is an incredible wilderness fishing area 45 miles from the nearest town and many miles from other camps (and other fisherman!) Four mile long "Nahmakanta" (Abenaki for "shining lake with many jumping fish") is a sparkling, spring-fed wilderness lake surrounded by wild forests, clear-flowing streams and dozens of crystal-clear lakes, the East's "Last Frontier" for wild Brook Trout and landlocked Salmon.

Along Nahmakanta's wild Northern shore, our wilderness lodge and guest cabins lie between two brook trout streams in an idyllic setting of tall shade trees, spacious green lawns and wildflowers. Except for our cabins and lodge, the Nahmakanta shoreline is entirely wild with enormous granite boulders and beautiful, natural sand beaches.

Our nine beautifully restored lakefront log cabins all have large picture windows which look down the entire length of spectacular Nahmakanta Lake. We serve our guests delicious home-cooked meals daily in our historic 19th century dining lodge. In the evenings, fisherman usually gather to swap stories and socialize in the lodge, or to cast to rising trout and salmon just offshore from camp.

The map below will give fisherman a good idea of the vast expanse of lakes, ponds

and streams that surrounds our camp. This is a spectacular wilderness fishing area that is absolutely unique in the Eastern U.S. Lake trout  and hard-fighting landlocked salmon thrive in Nahmakanta Lake and it's six mile long outlet stream, while virtually all of the smaller backcoutry lakes and streams you see on this map contain healthy populations of wild brook trout  that sometimes reach five pounds !

Some of these waters are accessible by woods road, but most can be reached only by hiking one of the many well-maintained foot trails. Detailed maps with trails drawn in are available at camp.  We have canoes and rowboats stored at a dozen of the most productive "hike-in" brook trout lakes exclusively for our guests use.  And, the cold, pure Nahmakanta watershed provides for excellent fishing throughout the season....!

An Important Note for Our Guests.........

"At Nahmakanta, we sincerely believe in providing our guests outstanding

service and personal attention. We are passionate and very knowledgable

about our area, and we freely share that knowledge to help make your

visit with us your best fishing trip ever ! We'll sit down with you and take

the time to go over your map in detail, pointing out the many fishing hot

spots in our vast wilderness area.  For our first time guests in particular,

you won't be wasting time fishing where there's no fish...! "
