“Other Things to Do”
“We provide area trail maps and lots of advice and guidance for self-guided hikers, fisherman and paddlers…!”
Hiking
Nahmakanta is without question the best hiking camp in Maine !
Many miles of beautiful trails literally surround our camp, all very well maintained and exclusively “foot travel only”. We are situated directly along the famed “100 Mile Wilderness” section of the “Appalachian Trail” and Maine’s new “Great Circle Trail” Click here to get an idea of the vast and varied network of trails and waterways in our area !
Canoeing & Kayaking
Start paddling right from your lakefront cabin, and explore Nahmakanta’s ten miles of wild shoreline ! We also have dozens of canoes and kayaks stashed for our guests at many other area waterways for fishing, moose viewing and exploring. Our “Nahmakanta Headwaters” canoe trip is a nearby chain of small interconnected lakes and footpaths that makes a wonderful day trip for families (guided or unguided)
Moose Tours
Nahmakanta is fantastic moose country!
There is no better area in Maine for seeing moose in their natural surroundings. We have trails to and canoes stashed at some of the “moosey-est” spots in the North Woods.
